Abstract
Stabilization of the glenohumeral joint with arthroscopically assisted techniques has evolved since the early 1980s to become an attractive alternative to open surgical stabilization for certain cases. It offers the advantages of arthroscopic visualization of the glenohumeral joint and subacromial bursa, less operative dissection and tissue trauma, a shorter hospital stay, fewer operative assistants, and the ability to address the pathologic lesion. A variety of techniques have been described and early reports are encouraging. Long-term studies, however, will help delineate the true efficacy of these procedures. The role of the arthroscopy in the treatment of acute anterior dislocation, and recurrent posterior instability are also discussed. Verf.-Referat
