Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the holistic process of rehabilitating an elite fast bowler, Mr. Peter Capes, from a serious sport injury. The physical history of the injury, back surgery, rehabilitation program, and the psychological and emotional adjustements experienced during the recovery process, are described. The implications of the findings are discussed with respect to the roles played in the sport injury recovery process by both medical and sport personnel, and family and friends of injured athletes. Data from interviews and retrospective accounts if the rehabilitation experience, from both the athlete and his sports physiotherapists, are examined in the light of current research. Verf.-Referat
