Abstract

In accordance with the postulations of the theory of achievement motivation it was decided to verify the hypothesis that those athletes who act with a greater effort in a culminated sport situation and set more demanding tasks for themselves, are distinguished by higher need for achievement than others. As a model sport situation was selected a dynamometric measurement of strength of arm extension on electric torsional dynamometer. Twenty eight physical education students were tested by projective and semiprojective techniques to measurement of motivation variables. Results sustain the introductory hypotheses, that the need for achievement may become an important predictor of behavior in demanding sport situations. Besides, results indicate a close correlation between the need for achievement and the index of aspiration amount. Verf.-Referat
