Abstract
Nine women practising kayaking performed test exercise on kayak ergometer in the luteal phase. Workloads were calculated for each subject according to body weight. The test consisted of graded workloads 3 min each, and terminated with a maximal exercise. Plasma concentrations of glucose, lactate, insulin, growth hormone, cortisol and progesterone were determined before and 2 min after exercise. We found that the increases in blood glucose and insulin, immediately after the exercise, were much higher in the follicular phase. The GH and cortisol were increased and progesterone was decreased after the work in both phases of the menstrual cycle. Verf.-Referat
