Abstract

Plasma triacyglycerols (TG), free fatty acids (FFA) and glycerol concentrations were investigated in male elite oarsmen before and after a graded rowing exercise performed prior to and following a two-month training. Graded rowing exercise resulted in elevation of plasma FFA only after training. Significant increase in plasma glycerol concentration was observed both before and after training but the training-induced change was slight and of minor importance for energetic processes in working muscles. Plasma TG levels before training were not affected by exhaustive laboratory rowing. In contrast to that, significant post-exercise elevation (by 45) of plasma TG was noted after training. Differences in the magnitude of liver uptake of TG are suggested to explain augmented plasma TG level follwing acute exercise. Verf.-Referat
