Abstract

The long-term results in the anterior cruciate ligament deficient knee are significantly affected by preservation of the meniscus. This article discusses the use of a transarticular arthroscopic technique with a posterior incision. The tear surface of both the peripheral white rim and the handle fragment must be abraded with a rasp while being careful not to remove any portion of the meniscus substance. Stable suture fixation must be obtained. The exogenous clot injection significantly improves healing rates with the isolated meniscus repair and to a lesser degree the repairs associated with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Complications include popliteal neurovascular and peroneal nerve injury. Verf.-Referat
