Abstract
Eleven femoral shaft stress fractures were identified in ten athletes. The most common site was in the proximal third. Midshaft and junction of mid/distal thirds were also seen. Athletes were involved in running basketball, and baseball. Successful treatment included a program of relative rest, forbidding impact-loading sports but allowing nonimpact training such as stationary bicycling and swimming. The average time to return to training was 11.5 weeks. No complete, displaced fractures or other late complications occurred. Verf.-Referat
