Abstract
Increasing importance has been attached in recent years to the echotomographic investigation of muscle and tendon disorders. It has proved fundamental in the diagnosis and follow-up of both traumatic and degenerative injuries. Thanks to this painless, harmless and noninvasive method, a proper treatment programme can be drawn up and a precise assessment can be made of the time required for recovery of function and a return to competitive sport. An account is given of the results obtained with this method in a series of 70 athletes from several disciplines. Verf.-Referat
