Abstract

Reference is made to a survey of a sample population of 100 young match soccer players and a description is offered of the frequency and the clinical and radiogrpahic picture of lower limb osteochondrosis observed in a series of personal cases. An account is given of the therapeutic protocols adopted in the light (inter alia) of the aetiopathogenetic evidence in athletes with osteochondrosis of the ossification centre of the ischiopubic ramus (Valtancoli-Van Neck-Delitala disease), the patella (Sinding-Larsen disease), the tibial tuberosity (Osgood-Schlatter-disease) and the posterior calcaneal apophysis. Stress is laid on the importance of early diagnosis as the means of avoiding the need for surgical correction and ensuring earlier functional recovery. Verf.-Referat
