Abstract

The extensor digitorum brevies manus (EDBM) muscle is an anomalous muscle on the dorsum of the hand. It was first described in 1734 by the anatomist Albinus, but only recently has its presence reported in living subjects. It may be mistaken for a a ganglion or some other tumor, and its existence sometimes results in unnecessary exploratory surgery. This case report documents the presence of an EDBM muscle in a young athletic individual who used his hands extensively during exercise. Verf.-Referat
