Abstract
The evidence that exercise training is responsible for the hormonal changes associated with reproductive disorders in women is reviewed. The least reproachable studies are consistent in their observations of gonadotropin and ovarian steroid suppression in women participating in athletic training. Because even these results may have been biased by confounding factors, at the present time it cannot be regarded as proven that exercise training disrupts reproductive hormones in women.
