Abstract
The development of muscle soreness 24 to 48 hours after exercise is a common experience among exercise enthusiasts. A common belief is that training prevents muscle soreness. This article provides background information on the perception of muscle soreness and its relationship to muscle performance and damage, as well as a discussion of the effects of training on muscle soreness and damage.
