Abstract
Football head and cervical spine fatalities have been dramatically reduced from 1975 to 1984 when compared with the previous 3 decades. The one preventive measure that has been given most of the credit is the 1976 rule change prohibiting initial contact with the head when blocking and tackling. The next decade, 1985 to 1994, will reveal the lasting effects of the prevention measures discussed. Verf.-Referat
