Abstract
Spinal manipulative therapy is utilized by sports physicians, chiropractors, and therapists to increase or restore spinal motion. Research into the effectiveness of this treatment modality has increased over the past decade, and a number of statements can be made concerning its indications, contraindications, and mechanism of action. There are multiple techniques of manipulation, which vary significantly as to the amount of force used, the desired goal of treatment, the diagnostic indications, and the potential complications.
