Abstract

Growth hormone, cortisol, insulin, lactic acid, and glucose responses to standard 4 min maximal kayak ergometer exercise were compared in senior and junior competitors. Serum growth hormone concentration in post-exercise 2nd and 30th min was significantly higher in junior, as compared with senior competitors. Post-exercise concentrations of lactic acid, glucose, cortisol, and insulin were similar in both groups. Growth hormone response to specific kayak exercise seems to differentiate the kayakists as regards their adaptation to short maximal exercise. Verf.-Referat
