Abstract

Three groups of athletes (distance runners, canoeists, gymnasts) were investigated in order to evaluate the level of immunological resistance during different periods of training cycle. At the intermediate period, a high level of G-immunoglobulin was found, suggesting enhanced humoral reactivity of the athletes under training. Training loads applied regularly during the consecutive periods of the training cycle in distance runners and canoeist had a greater effect on humoral than on cellular immunity. No significant correlation (except B-lymphocyte count) between selected parameters of immunological resistance and physical fitness parameters suggests that periodical changes of both physical fitness and immunological response had no significant effect on each other during the training cycle studied.
