Abstract

Three groups of students had performed concentric, eccentric and mixed type excersieses using a training and measurement unit. Physical effort had been measured as the total kinetic energy trainsmitted during take off or braked during sliding down an inclined plane. Torques of the hip, knee joints extensor muscles and of the ankle joint plantar flexors were measured during the six weeks of training and three weeks after the training cycle. The speed of leg straightening in the knee joint was measured at the same time. A significant increase in muscle force in the knee joint had been stated during eccentric training with lack of any significant differences in muscle force in the ankle joint. A discussion is given with considertion of the specific structure and function of muscle in these joint. The increase in force and speed after training was independent of the character of muscle effort. The increase was approximately identical in all joints. Verf.-Referat
