Abstract

Alcohol and benodiazepine are the most wide spread drugs in modern society. Their consumption has also increased in sports where precision is an important factor, such as archery and target shooting, probably because of their tranquillizing effect. The existing gap in literature concerning their influences on maximal performance, has been the motivation for this study. The present study is therefore focused on the influence of benzodiazepines and alcohol, commonly used in combination of one another, on the maximal voluntary contraction using a dynamometer, during concentric and eccentric work as well. The conclusion is that alcohol has a greater influence on strength than benzodiazepines, probably because of its central effects, rather than because of peripheral influences. Verf.-Referat
