Abstract

Through the method of analyzing relationships between parents and children, used on materials from 300 families, it was found that motor aptitudes are strongly determined genetically. The magnitude of the index of inheritability of motor aptitudes changes depending on the age of the persons studied. The highest values of this index were found in 8-9-year olds and their parents and then in 14-15-year old children and their parents. Analysis of interrelationships between individual groups of relationships in families showed that in the material studied in the highest correlation appeared between sons and fathers and mothers and daughters. The suggestion was also made to use in studies of motor capacities only tests which do not show interdependencies with basal motor traits and also with such elements of body build as height and body mass.
