Abstract

In two articles the question will be answered wether the IOC-doping-rules have an influence on the medicamental treatment of athletes with bronchial asthma and/or rhinitis. The first article covers the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma and rhinitis. Bronchial asthma can be divided into three sections by means of cause: a. intrinsic bronchial asthma (allergic), b. extrinsic bronchial asthma (non-allergic), and c. exercise-induced asthma. In all three cases the mastcellsystem will directly or indirectly be triggered. This can cause an immediate, a late and a chronic response. The chronic response hasnt yet been seen with exercise-induced asthma. Also rhinitis can be divided by means of cause in allergic (about 90) and non-allergic rhinitis. Rhinitis is also caused by a direct or indirect activation of the mastcellsystem. Verf.-Referat
