Abstract

After a short theoretically oriented introduction concerning concepts as measurement and testing this article provides a description of the construction, validation and standardization of a psychological questionnaire to assess wellbeing in cardiac patients. For quite a long time a great need existed for information concerning psychic functioning of cardiac patients. The diagnostic aid, however, in the form of a standardized instrument (in Dutch), including data about validation and reliability specially applicable on cardiac patients, has been lacking until recently. This paper provides a condensed description of the construction of the medical psychological questionnaire for cardiac patients. Recommendations for application of the questionnaire are also included. Emphasis is placed on scientific research purpose as well as on the usefulness of the test for the medical practitioner. The article closes with a number of classical objections against test-psychology. However, nowadays as well as in the future, for medical practice a great need will remain for psychological questionnaires. Verf.-Referat
