Abstract

Serum gastrin. pancreatic polypeptide (PP), insulin and plasma glucagon responses to 40 min submaximal exercise giving HR of 160-170 beats/min were studied in field hockey players having been trained for 1-3 years (group A) and for more than 6 years (group B). The average age of group A was 14.3 (+/-1.1) and that of group B 22.1 (+/-3.2) years. Significant exercise-induced changes were found only in serum PP and plasma glucagon levels, and the increases were more pronounced in group A. Compared to group B, a tendency towards smaller gastrin and greater PP responses to exercise were also found. Verf.-Referat
