Abstract

The purpose of this study is to establish a relationship between anxiety as well as certain properties of the self concept and relaxation readiness. The anxiety level was measured by means of Spielbergers State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and self concept was estimated on the basis of Goughs and Heilbruns Adjective Check List. The relaxation readiness was defined on the basis of the Galvanic Skin Reaction (GSR). Seventy-five subjects who suffered cardiac infarction were tested. No correlation was found between the relaxation readiness and 24 indicators of self concept. The persons indicating a high anxiety level have a lower relaxation ability. Verf.-Referat
