Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish the validity, reliability, and objectivity of a field test of squash fitness. The test involved running 10 repetitions of a prescribed pattern that simulated squash movements. Thirty female squash players performed an aerobic power test, and anaerobic test and two squash field tests. Correlation coefficients were determined between the laboratory test results and two variables from the squash fitness test-total repetition time and recovery heart rate. Total repetition time correlated significantly with the V02max test (r=-0.52) and anaerobic endurance time (r=-0.63), while the correlation between recovery heart rate and V02max was r=.38 (p<0.05). Hence, criterion related validity was established. Construct validity was also obtained since the test descriminated between squash players and non-squash players. Inter-class correlation coefficients of 0.89 and 0.94 attested to the reliability and objectivity of the test. Verf.-Referat
