Abstract
While is is well-accepted that regular exercise has physical, psychological, and social benefits for participants, levels of exercise participation remain low and dropout rates are high. The application of psychological theories to attempt to deal with this problem has considerable potential. This paper outlines some relevant theories and describes some exercise promotion work based on them. Verf.-Referat
