Abstract
After a brief review of various schools` contributions to the study of sexuality, the prejudices surrounding female athletes are analysed in detail. A survey was then conducted on 50 professional netball players and a control group, who were given the Rotter Social Reaction Inventory and a personally developed Questionnaire on Female Sexuality. The data collected revealed a different interactive approach to sexuality in the two groups. Finally it was noted that for athletes sexuality is on the one hand imbued with ambivalence and on the other offers reassurance about the individuals psychosexual identity. Verf.-Referat
