Abstract
Traumatic events during 18 youth fencing competitions were investigated. They were divided into three categories: 1) injury due to opponents weapon (55), 2) cutaneous injury (blisters) due to sharp continuous trauma (29), 3) ankle distorsions (18). Medical intervention percentage during competition was very low and all accidents were light. The results of our study emphasize that youth fencing competitions bear low risk of accidents.
