Abstract

A clinical analysis was made of 87 tennis players from the Circolo del Tennis, Florence, suffering from tennis elbow. All the subjects played tennis at least two hours a week, and had been tennis players for many years. The epicondyle was affected in 70 cases, and the epitrochlea in 12 cases. The subjects were predominantly male and aged between 30 and 50. Course was prolonged (an average of 9 months), and the period during which the players had to give up the sport lengthy (5 months on average). The final result, in spite of 20 relapses, was good with only one player having to give up the sport. Errors in strocke technique were found in the majority of cases analysed; while there was no clinical evidence of radial and ulnar nerve deficiency. Verf.-Referat
