Abstract
Given the etiopathological mechanisms and the clinical and radiologic presentations of anterior tibial, calcaneal and acromial apophysitis, the authors propose a conservative therapeutic approach based on partial rest, local cryotherapy and the maintenance of a reasonable level of muscular activity. Research using the accumulated case histories of the Milan Sports Traumatology Centre at the G. Pini Orthopedic Institute (between the years 1980-84) underlines how non-compliance to therapy can lead to imperfect anatomical and functional recovery, especially in the case of Osgood-Schlatters disease.
