Abstract des Autors
This article examines infrapatellar tendinitis - an overload injury that is also called jumpers knee. The injury may range from a mild first-degree strain to a complete rupture of the infrapatellar ligament or avulsion from the bone. Pain is the usual presenting complaint. Diagnosis is usually made by history and physical examination. During the acute phase standard treatment modalities for overload injuries may be useful, but surgery may be necessary as the injury progresses. This article describes an exercise that relieves the pain and allows most athletes to return to competition: The patient dorsiflexes and plantarflexes his or her foot against manual resistance or a hamstring/legcurl machine.
