Abstract

The authors examined the following questions in their investigations: 1. At which blood lactate value the maximal balance between lactate production and elimination (the so-called maximal lactate steady state) in continuous exercise is to be found? 2. At the work load level representing the maximal lactate steady state in continuous exercise tests, what is the corresponding blood lactate concentration in graded exercise tests (aerobic-anaerobic threshold according to Mader)? 3. How does the threshold change as the result of alterations in the testing pattern: (a) alteration of load duration, (b) alteration of rest period duration, (c) alteration of testing equipment used? 4. Which angle of inclination in treadmill tests corresponds to the loading characteristics of various running surfaces in field tests? Verf.-Referat
