Abstract

The connection between blood lactate level and the velocity of movement in different sports was investigated. Sprinters reached the anaerobic threshold earlier and had higher heart rate than middle- and long-distance runners. Cyclists, kayakers, canoeists and water-polo players performed a given distance with different intensity. The dLas value (i.e. the maximal blood lactate increase for 0,1 m/sec velocity increase referred to 100 m distance) was measured. This parameter seems to reflect the efficiency of anaerobic exertion. With biathlonists (10000 m distance running), despite nearly equal running speed, blood lactic accumulation was significantly higher during the second 5000 m distance. In this case the lactate value was referred to unit speed, thus it served well for characterizing the anaerobic energy expenditure. The effect of a training camp program on dLa parameters of modern pentathlonists was investigated. Significant individual differences were found. The dLas value was several times higher in swimming and paddling, than in running or cycling. These results suggested the significant role of the difference between air and water resistance, and the efficiency increasing bicycle. The exponential correlation obtained was made linear by log y = 2,19 - 3,62 x equation. Verf.-Referat (gekuerzt)
