Abstract
A case of solution of continuity of the femoral nerve in a footballer caused by direct contusive trauma is reported. Two months after the injury, surgery was rendered necessary in the light of the clinical and EMG picture. Intra- perifascicular neurolysis under the operating microscope led to exellent recovery of function, and enabled the patient to return to competitive foot- ball. Stress is laid on the importance of careful clinical and instrumental evaluation of nerve lesions to ensure their correct diagnosis and observation.Surgical intervention must be undertaken before they become irreversible.
