Abstract
Two cases of stress fracture of the ulna in athletes are presented and the mechanismus of such fractures discussed. One case was a nineteen-year-old female softball player and the other a fourteen-year-old female volley-ball player. Stress fractures occurred on the distal third of the ulna in the former due to repeated underhand throwing, and on the proximal third in the latter due to underhand receiving. Only prohibition of strenuous exercises or temporary discontinuation of sports activities resulted in statisfactory healing. It is possible that the characteristics of the shape of the ulna, lifting action, and the force generated by the brachialis and other muscles are involed in stress fracture of the ulna. Verf.-Referat
