Abstract des Autors
During the preparticipation examination, the physician must identify conditions that make the athlete vulnerable to injury or disability. To accomplish this, the physician should use: (1) a health history form designed for athletes, (2) a physical examination that is sport specific, (3) a functional or active physical examination that appropriately stresses the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and (4) a format that allows discussion with the athlete about the findings of the examination.
