Abstract
Stress fractures in joggers and runners are well-known, well-reported phenomena. While the tibia and metatarsals are the most common sites, an estimated 10 occur in the femur. Bilateral stress fractures of the femur have been reported in military personnel, but these were in the femoral neck and not in the shaft, and were not in athletes. This case report of a high school runner who sustained not only bilateral stress fractures of her femoral shafts, but also of her tibias, represents a very unusualcombination of stress fractures in an otherwise healthy individual.
