Abstract

The purpose of the study has been to verify a hypothesis that change of working rate results in higher physical work capacity. The studies were carried out on an group of seven men. Four models of effort tests on Monark cycloergometer were adapted in each test. During the first the subjects performed 4 minexercise at 100 V02max. In the second test during the first minute subjects worked at about 125 V02max and for the next three minutes at about 90 V02max. In the third test - about 90 during the first three minutes, and at 125 V02max during the last minute. In the fourth test during the first and the last minute the subjects worked at about 115 and for the next minutes at about 85 V02max. During exercise and 20 minutes of recovery pulmonary ventilation, oxygen uptake, heart rate and other cardiorespiratory parameters were recorded on a Jaeger Ergo-pneumotest. Lactic acid concentration and pH in blood were determined at rest in 4, 10 and 30 min after exercise. It was foundout that varied-power exercise (fast-slow rate) causes lower physiological cost, as compared, to the other tests. There were lower oxygen uptake, both during and after effort, lowerrespiratory quotient and lactic acid concentration during recovery period. It is possible this model of test creates the conditions for utilization of lactic acid produced during the first minute of exercise as energy substate. Verf.-Referat
