Abstract des Autors
The generalist team physician appears to have a definite place in the care of the intercollegiate athlete. The varied problems encountered and the absence of many severe problems should make the general practitioner, the family physician, or the general internist comfortable in accepting the responsibility for the care of athletes, noting the importance of prompt backup by orthopedists, general surgeons, and other specialists. Similarly, student health services and athletic departments should seriously consider employing a generalistteam physican as both appropriate and effective. Verf.-Referat
