Abstract des Autors
It was concluded from the results of this investigation that former athletes have better cardiovascular function than nonathletes, and the advantage appeared to be maintained even when accounting for differences in current leisure-time physical activity habits. There was little difference in cardiovascular function according to the specific sport in which the athlete had participated. Cardiac function was enhanced with increased leisure-time physical activity and the differences between the most and least active groups were more apparent in older subjects. Verf.-Referat
