Plantar fascial strain and its inflammatory sequellae can be very painful and frustratingly disabling. All those who treat athletes must have an understanding of the anatomy, biomechanics, and pathophysiology involved in order to initiale specific and effective therapy. Conservative treatment, combined withmechanical foot control, gives gratifying results in most cases. Recalcitrant heel pain should be investigated for causes other than mechanical, and surgeryshould be reserved as a last resort. Verf.-Referat
