Abstract
Six subjects were used in a study comparing the activity of the peroneus longus and brevis muscles while walking on a treadmill, on the flat and at a 5 inclination. The muscles were monitored by an electromyography telemetry system, using surface electrodes, while tape switches attached to the heel andthe first metatarsal were used to indicate the periods of the gait cycle. Synchronous activity of the muscles was found in all subjects, in walking both onthe flat and up the incline. The muscles were found to commence activity at the time of toe-off. These results were later verified on two additional subjects using fine wire electrodes. Verf.-Referat
