Abstract
The symptoms of altitude sickness can appear at 8,000 feet and at higher altitudes can and extend to full-flown acute mountain sickness and high altitude pulmonary edema. The physician caring for persons who exercise at altitude should understand entire disease complex, and he must be prepared to treat symptomatically mild mountain sickness, and at the same time be aware of the possibility of life-threatening pulmonary edema.
