Abstract
Hockey is recognized as being on of the fastest and most demanding sports in the world, with a reputation for roughness and physical risk. The risk factor should be defined as the probability of the participants sustaining injury. Because of our growing concern for the physical safety of both male and female ice hockey players at all age levels, this study was designed to: (1) examine the incidence of accidental and penalty-related injuries; (2) examine the nature and severity of the injuries; (3) analyze the physical risks; (4) identify the causative factors of risk; (5) recommend changes to enhance the sports safety.
