Abstract
The Author reviews the characteristic elements of the mountain climate, particularly with regard to the biological action of the climate itself. He examines the various mechanisms of the bodys adaptation under the high mountain condition of hypoxia, especially in relation to sport; in order of importance he lists the action of the mountain climate on circulation, respiration, hematosis, the nervous system and on the general metabolism. He examines in particular t he limit of human tolerance of acclimatisation which is always seen under theprofile of an organic condition to the limit of the physiological and therefore of an extremely weak homeostatic condition. The therapeutic action of the climate concludes the work. Verf.-Referat
