Abstract
The part played by fats in the chemical production of energy is discussed and the literature relating to changes induced by physical exercise on blood fat values is briefly surveyed. Plasma lipids in young footballers and their modifications after a training session are also axamined. The rsults indicate that such changes are very complex and vary from one subject to another. Possible mechanisms responsible for these changes are suggested. The difficulities involved in extrapolating individual modifications in an attempt to determine general lines of behaviour valid for all althletes are stressed, bearing in mind that such changes are typical of a single individual only.
