Abstract des Autors

Numerous studies have demonstrated cardiovascular and anthropometric changes in middle-aged men in response to habitual physical activity. These studies have varied in the parameters measured, in the intensity of the exercise stress, and in the frequency and duration of the training sessions.
The lack of uniformity in design makes comparison of results difficult and indicates a continuing need for corroboration of findings. It is this need that has motivated this report.
The major contributions of this study are the duration of the training period (parameters compared after one and two years of regular exercise) and the relatively large number of subjects. The results are most readily compared to other studies in the business and industrial sector in which many of the same variables were studied in similar populations.
