Abstract
Twelve patients requiring 15 operations for osteochondritis dissecans of the capitellum were reviewed. All of the patients were little league baseball players and all required surgical treatment for either a locked elbow or failure of conservative management. Curettage of the capitellum to bleeding bone can relieve pain and improve extension in patients with or without loose bodies. When the cartilage was intact a bone graft was placed from above into the osseous defect but gave unpredictable results, and in the one case of a cartilage shave a failure resulted.
